James Golob was educated at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge and holds an MA and PhD. He was the leading European Telecommunications analyst for many years and was latterly a Partner of Goldman Sachs (1999-2006), before that a Director of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (1995-1999) and a Director of SG Warburg (1987-1995). He retired in 2006 and has since been involved in a number of charities mostly in education and the Arts. 

James joined the National Benevolent Charity in September 2020 .
