Ali joined from Longfield Community Hospice where she held the roles of Director of Operations rising to CEO within two years. Previously she was CEO of New Brewery Arts, where she was awarded Business person of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce for redeveloping a former theatre into a boutique Arts Hostel. She was also the Director of ProHelp, a national network of professional firms dedicated to giving pro bono professional advice to community organisations, and a Director of Corrie, Russell and Partners, a social responsibility consultancy with clients such as Business in the Community and Guinness Housing.
Earlier in her career she volunteered in a Women's Refuge and CAB and was a Community Worker in Merthyr Tydfil, and Rochdale. These experiences have shaped her understanding of poverty and commitment to change.

Ali lives with her husband and two teenage sons in Gloucestershire. She enjoys walking her whippet, cycling and playing tennis.
