Studied medicine at Guys Hospital, London. After working at The Royal Free, St George’s and The Royal Marsden became a GP partner in Brixton, South London for 13 years. Most recently a Partner and subsequently trainer in Chippenham GP practice for 19 years. Enjoys hiking, tennis, gardening and travelling. Claire joined the National Benevolent Charity in December 2023.

Hazel has over 20 years’ experience as a Grants Manager making financial awards towards improving the lives of children and families facing difficult circumstances. Working at Buttle UK for 14 years she managed a team administrating the BBC Children in Need Emergency Essential Grants Programme and was also a Volunteer Committee Member for CIN. She is currently Grants Manager at the Fashion & Textiles Children’s Trust joining in 2018. Hazel also has 10 years’ experience working in housing and council tax benefits with Lewisham Council and has also supported families in her role as an Education Social Worker. Her hobbies include gardening, cake decorating, attending concerts, theatre and cinema and spending time with family and friends. Hazel joined the National Benevolent Charity in December 2023.

John was educated at Malmesbury School and studied law at Durham University. John has practised as a commercial and chancery barrister from Guildhall Chambers in Bristol since 2017. He enjoys travelling, sailing, scuba-diving and watching various sports including rugby and cricket. John joined the National Benevolent Charity in December 2023

Victoria Daniell

Following a General Arts degree at Manchester University, Victoria, studied law at the College of Law, qualifying as a solicitor in 1979. She worked in Bristol, throughout her working life, retiring in 2017 as a director and head of the family law team at Gregg Latchams. She now volunteers at Citizens Advice and enjoys walking , gardening and spending time with family and friends. Victoria joined the National Benevolent Charity in December 2018.

Geoffrey Clements

Geoffrey is a Bristolian, educated at Balliol College Oxford. He qualified as a chartered accountant in Bristol, and spent time in London and  Sydney, before returning to Bristol as a tax partner with Coopers & Lybrand. He left to run his own small practice before selling to another accountant in 2005. He has been a trustee of the Friends of Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre for over 30 years and Treasurer of Age UK Bristol for 10 years, Trustee for Dr Johnsons House in London and is a former Chairman of the Tobacco Factory Arts Trust. He is a member, and past president, of the Anchor Society, one of the three societies founded to assist older residents of Bristol. His hobbies include golf, Bridge, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, theatre, cinema, singing with the Redland Green Choir, occasional attendance at his allotment, and watching Bristol City, and Bristol Rugby. He is Treasurer of the Old Cliftonian Golfing Society, Secretary of the Millennium Seniors Captains Golfing Society, and a past Captain of Bristol & Clifton Golf Club. Geoffrey became a trustee in March 2019

James Golob

Chairman

James Golob was educated at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge and holds an MA and PhD. He was the leading European Telecommunications analyst for many years and was latterly a Partner of Goldman Sachs (1999-2006), before that a Director of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (1995-1999) and a Director of SG Warburg (1987-1995). He retired in 2006 and has since been involved in a number of charities mostly in education and the Arts. James joined the National Benevolent Charity in September 2020.

John Hunnisett

John was educated at Eastbourne College and then Kings College, London, where he read theology. He trained for the priesthood at St. Augustine’s College, Canterbury. After curacies in St. Mary, Charlton Kings and St. Mary, Portsea, he was vicar of Badgeworth with Shurdington, rector of Dursley, team rector of Ross-on-Wye, and rural dean of Ross and Archenfield. His last post was that of chaplain of Huggens College, Northfleet in Kent. He retired in 2012 with permission to officiate in the Diocese of Gloucester and as bishop’s visitor to the retired clergy in the Stroud Deanery. John joined the National Benevolent Charity in September 2015.

Grahame was educated at Harrow. He joined Dixon Wilson; chartered accountants, qualifying as an ACA in 1978. After a brief period operating in London Property he joined Laws the stockbrokers in Bristol in 1983, after several corporate changes including Allied Provincial, Greig Middleton and Gerrard he joined Rathbones in 2001 as an investment Director and remained here until his retirement in April 2017.Grahame joined the National Benevolent Charity in June 2017.

Richard Bromilow

Richard was educated at Bedford School and studied law at Southampton University: he was called to the Bar in 1977 and practised from St John’s Chambers in Bristol until 2005 when he was appointed a Circuit Judge. He enjoys golf, cycling, attending concerts, watching cricket and travelling. Richard joined the National Benevolent Charity in September 2020.

Organisation Grants Manager

Vicky joined in January 2021 taking up the new role of Organisation Grants Manager. With more than 15 years experience in the not for profit sector, from national organisations to small start-ups and most recently the launch of a climate change education charity, Vicky brings with her a wealth of fundraising expertise and charity management, as well as experience in programme development. Vicky enjoys working collaboratively, building positive relationships and inspiring others to make a difference. She has an interest in global poverty, social inequalities and the environment, and is excited to bring her knowledge, experience and interest together to develop our grants to organisations programme. She has two young children and enjoys an active lifestyle from family adventures to running, open water swimming and stand-up paddleboarding.

Property and Individual Grants Manager

Jane joined the charity as housing and estates officer in 2015. She recently expanded her role and now manages our individual grants programme. She also has considerable experience in retail, finance and business. Jane lives with her partner and her many animals including dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs and chickens.  

Ali Russell

Ali joined the National Benevolent Charity in September 2019. Her previous roles include CEO of Longfield Community Hospice and CEO of New Brewery Arts, where she was awarded Business person of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce for redeveloping a former theatre into a boutique Arts Hostel. She has also been a Programme Director for Business in the Community. She has volunteered in a Women's Refuge and CAB and was a Community Worker in Merthyr Tydfil, and Rochdale. These experiences have shaped her understanding of poverty and commitment to change. Ali lives with her husband and sons in Gloucestershire. She enjoys walking her whippet, cycling, playing tennis and Crossfit
